Nothing [A Poem]

You told me I was beautiful

I guess that meant nothing

You told me that you wanted to dance, out beneath the stars

I guess that meant nothing

You told me that you liked me

I guess that meant nothing

And then you told me nothing at all

I guess that meant something

And suddenly I wasn't beautiful

I guess that meant something

And suddenly you didn't want to dance

I guess that meant something

And suddenly you didn't like me

I guess that meant something

And suddenly you didn't want to talk to me

I guess that meant something

I know I'm supposed to move on and act like nothing ever happened.

But how can I?

Because while you did not like me

Guess what?

I liked you.

I guess that meant nothing.
